About James Samworth
James is a Partner in Foresight’s Infrastructure team and leads investments in waste and biomass transactions. Since James joined Foresight in 2009, he has seen the team grow substantially and has led investments in a number of market-leading transactions, including Birmingham BioPower, Levenseat Renewable Energy, and Ince Park. Most recently he led Foresight’s co-sponsorship of the £450m Bioenergy Infrastructure Group platform with Aurium, Helios and Infracapital, which has investments in 7 UK EfW plants.
Prior to joining Foresight, James spent 10 years at Corus in operations and commercial roles, and worked in investment banking and private equity at Deutsche Bank, Lyceum Capital Partners and Next Wave Ventures.
As the UK’s EfW build out progresses, the availability of feedstock will get an increasingly difficult challenge for each successive project. In the C&I market in particular, how should we structure and finance deals with regional waste management firms as suppliers? Can aggregators help through providing balance sheet support or guarantees?
