UK GREENHOUSE GASES FROM WASTE DIVIDED BY 4 IN 15 YEARS

About CORD’HOMME Christophe

“Zero Waste to Landfills” (or almost “Zero”) is a major objective to reach in the Circular Economy package, which has been recently adopted by the European Commission! Once the level of quality material recycling has been optimized, residual Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is a resource of local sustainable energy! The association between “Material from Waste” and "Energy from Waste" (EfW) is the only scheme able to avoid the use of landfills and close the Circular Economy loop of Municipal Waste.
Based on UK market successful story to reduce drastically their MSW landfilling, this presentation develops the type of waste management solutions proposed and installed in line with (“almost”) “Zero waste to landfills”. Thanks to this deliberate policy, the UK has managed to divide by 4 approximately its greenhouse gases emissions for the waste sector in the last 15 years.

HOW DID THE UK MANAGE TO DIVIDE BY 4 ITS GREENHOUSE GASES FOR THE WASTE SECTOR IN THE LAST 15 YEARS?
